Team Myeloma UK Runs 2009

The funds raised by Team Myeloma UK in 2008 have gone an enormous way towards helping Myeloma UK support patients, carers and their families affected by myeloma and its related disorders. We are tremendously grateful for all the energy and determination in 2008 and we have an incredible year planned for 2009.

Team Myeloma UK has places in many UK and international runs and we are also one of the official charities for the 2009 Edinburgh Marathon – our flagship event. We are also a Rat Race charity partner and have places in both the London and Edinburgh Rat Races. Click here for more information about the Rat Race Urban Adventure series.

As of June 2009, we have places left in the following runs:

Berlin Marathon 2009 (just a few places left!)

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon 11 October 2009 (one place left!)

BUPA Great South Run (just a few places left!)

In 2009, Team Myeloma UK has a target of £120,000. Raising this money will fund at least six new research grants into understanding the causes and mechanisms of myeloma; the development of novel approaches to the early detection and diagnosis of myeloma; new drug development; increasing the number of patients entering clinical studies and improving the clinical environment in which treatment and care are delivered.

As a Team Myeloma UK runner, you will receive dedicated support and an information pack to help raise funds and awareness for Myeloma UK. You’ll also receive a bright orange running vest (or t-shirt) to ensure that on the day of your run you will stand out as a Team Myeloma UK runner.

If you are looking for inspiration, why not view our Edinburgh Marathon 2007 video pod

Myeloma UK is delighted to announce the launch of its video pods from Mel Edwards, UK Athletics Level 4 Endurance Coach, on training, injuries (and how to prevent them) and much more. We also have a video pod from our own Jen Foley on general nutrition for runners and nutrition for running a half and full marathon. Click here to view the video pods.
