Raising awarenessAccording to a recent survey conducted by Myeloma UK, awareness of myeloma throughout the UK is very low. When questioned, a staggering 97% of people could not correctly identify the disease. The survey also found that over a third of those interviewed wrongly thought that myeloma was a skin cancer, with a national average of 38% and highs of 45% in the Outer South East and a low of 16% in Wales. Become a Media Case StudyNewspaper and magazine articles are a great way of telling people more about myeloma - and real-life patient/carer stories are always particularly well read. It is of great value to other people in a similar position to be able to hear or read first-hand accounts of different aspects of life with myeloma. We are looking for patients who would be willing to tell their story through the media to help us raise awareness of: Living with myeloma
The different types of treatment and prodecures involved in myeloma
Access to new cancer treatments for myeloma
Delay in diagnosis
Living with anaemia and fatigue
The importance of nursing staff in myeloma
If you are willing to consider being a media case study, call or email Sara at Myeloma UK to find out more about what’s involved sara@myeloma.org.uk 0131 557 3332.
