Fancy running for Myeloma UK in our flagship marathon? In 2009 Myeloma UK had 141 runners who took part in the Edinburgh marathon. Our runners look set to have raised £75,000 to support patients and their families affected by myeloma. Why not join Team Myeloma UK at the Edinburgh Marathon in 2010?
The May edition of Runner's World magazine carried out extensive research into which of the 10 most popular marathons for UK runners were the fastest. A single comparison (like average time) could skew the results, so Runner’s World used 200 different comparisons to establish which was the fastest marathon and the Edinburgh Marathon came out as the fastest marathon in the UK. It was also rated as the best race of any distance in Scotland in the February edition of Runner’s World magazine.
With a course that also runs along the beautiful coastline, the Edinburgh Marathon is perfect for Myeloma UK supporters looking for a personal best or just looking for a great marathon run in 2010. Please call Lorna Cunningham 0131 557 3332 or email lorna@myeloma.org.uk to secure your place in the 2010 Edinburgh Marathon or the Team Relay.

If you don’t fancy the distance of a marathon, why not try a Big Fun Run? All runs are 5km and open to adults and children.
Tina, a Myeloma UK supporter, said of her recent fun run in Willen Park, Milton Keynes ‘What an excellent venue - there was a great atmosphere and the weather was perfect too! The event was really well organised and I would thoroughly recommend taking part in a Big Fun Run to anyone thinking of raising money for Myeloma UK . I’m really looking forward to participating again next year and raising more money for Myeloma UK’.
Three sisters - Caroline, Elizabeth and Alexandra, all took part in the Derby Big Fun Run in September. Their mum, Roz, said ‘It was Alexandra’s (only 11yrs old) first time in such an event – she did really well to complete a quite difficult course. Their father, Keith, was diagnosed with myeloma at the end of January and is recovering well from a Stem Cell Transplant. They are obviously all keen to show their support in anyway they can, especially raising money and awareness of both myeloma and the charity Myeloma UK’.
Big Fun Runs have a relaxed atmosphere, and are a great day out for the whole family. There are several events planned in cities across the UK in 2010. For more information contact Lorna at lorna@myeloma.org.uk or telephone Lorna Cunningham on 0131 557 3332.
