Chief Executive, Eric Low attends Glasgow cheque presentation

01-03-2013

DSC_0003.jpgBill Young’s wife Brenda was diagnosed with myeloma over 17 years ago and it was in the earlier stages of her diagnosis that Bill and Brenda first contacted Myeloma UK for information and support, personally speaking with Myeloma UK Chief Executive, Eric Low.

Each year, Bill nominated Myeloma UK to benefit from his employer – Howden’s, Christmas prize draw, but it wasn’t until 2012 he was successful.

The amount raised through the draw was matched very generously by Howden who are based in Glasgow, bringing the grand total to £1,800.

Eric said, “I was delighted to attend the cheque presentation. It was great to see Bill again. We are extremely grateful to Bill and all his colleagues as well as to Howden for generously matching the amount raised.”

“When Brenda was diagnosed 17 years ago, she was only given a few years to live. It’s a huge testament to her and her doctors, as well as the researchers who have done so much to improve our understanding of myeloma and the development of new treatments, that myeloma patients, like Brenda, are living longer and with a better of quality of life.”
