Children beat their mums to the finish line in run for Myeloma UK

07-01-2013

20121020_102649_crop.jpgMrs Mary Casey was diagnosed with myeloma at the beginning of August 2012. After searching for bone marrow cancer on the internet, Mary’s daughters Annette Norton and Marie McGrath found Myeloma UK. Contacting the organisation, they found the information and support they received excellent in helping them to understand and cope with their mother’s diagnosis.

Inspired to raise money in support of Myeloma UK, Annette, Marie and their children Olivia Norton 9, Luke Norton 8 and Paul McGrath 8 entered the Southampton 5km Big Fun Run on Saturday 20 October 2012.

The children beat their mums to the finish line completing the run in 35 minutes, with Annette and Marie finishing not far behind in 40 minutes. Between them they raised over £600 for Myeloma UK.

Annette said, “It was a great feeling to give something back to a charity that is helping the discovery of new and improved treatments for myeloma - treatments that could help extend the life of our darling mother.”
