Golf day fundraiser is a massive hit

21-01-2013

CIMG1095.jpgPaul Stancliffe combined his love of golf with a desire to fundraise in memory of his Aunty Christine, when he held two very successful golf days, raising awareness and funds for Myeloma UK.

Paul said, “I love fundraising for worthy causes especially those close to my heart. Anything I ever do to raise money for Myeloma UK reminds me of my Aunty Christine and brings a smile to my face. She was a wonderful woman and I will continue to work my socks off for this great cause to help fund research that will help others in the future.”

Paul was the Head Pro and Manager at the Waterfront Golf Club in Rotherham when he held his first fundraising golf day event in March 2011. He now holds the same position at the West Bradford Golf Club and this is where his second charity golf day took place in September 2012. Paul’s cousin Debbie, Christine’s daughter, was a huge help and support in organising both events.

Paul held a golf day for 26 teams, 104 players in total - there were sponsored cars, photographers, banners and on course prizes. Each team received a welcome pack and gift on the day. Paul additionally held a ‘Beat the Lady Captain’ event, where she generously gave up six hours of her time and raised an additional £150.

On completion of the round of golf there was a hot buffet, huge charity auction along with a raffle and tombola. There was also a clothes stand, with partial profits being donated. The night finished with a disco that continued late into the night, with over 180 guests, including close friends and family.

The day and evening, generated a huge amount of awareness of myeloma and over £3,300 which was split evenly between Myeloma UK and NACC (Crohns and Collitis).

Paul is already planning his next event, he said, “It was my Aunt’s wish that we would continue the good work, support Myeloma UK and hopefully help others into the future. I’m looking forward to my next golf day on 26 April 2013 and would be happy to help support other local events being held in aid of Myeloma UK.”

Great job Paul Stancliffe. It is a really good gesture that you are always on the hands-on for a cause. I fully support Myeloma UK and hopefully others support too into the future. Keep up the good work Paul. There is another guy like you by the name of Boughton who is riding his bicycle in the arctic to raise money & send bicycles to South Africa, where they will act as ambulances and help workers travel. Isn't it amazing! For more information, visit http://www.rosebudmag.com/extremecycling
