If you're affected by myeloma

Is myeloma treatable?

Myeloma is highly treatable in most cases but not curable. Recent developments have significantly improved survival and yet more developments are expected in the coming years.

Recent data from the Office for National Statistics show that five-year survival rates in myeloma are increasing at one of the fastest paces among all cancer types in the UK.

There is a wide variety of drugs and treatment strategies that can be used to effectively treat myeloma. Your treatment plan will be discussed with you and will be based on several factors including:

  •    Your test results
  •    Your preferences
  •    Any existing medical conditions
  •    Your age and general health
  •    Type and stage of myeloma
