- It provides practical advice, emotional support and a listening ear, whether it's you or a loved one that has myeloma
- Our Myeloma Information Specialists have a broad understanding of myeloma supported by a team of dedicated medical and nursing advisors
- 60% percent of calls are from patients, 30% from carers or family members and 10% from healthcare professionals
- The number of men calling has increased by approximately 20% year on year for the last 3 years
- People can talk for as long or short a time as they want to, there is no time limit – the average call length is 12 minutes
- All calls are confidential and there is no need to identify yourself. Calls are not recorded
- Tailored information relevant to your call can be sent out afterward if you need it
- Our aim is to have at least 80% of calls answered first time by a Myeloma Information Specialist. Our actual performance for calls answered first time in 2009 and 2010 was 95% and 91% respectively
