This Infosheet describes exercises suitable for myeloma patients, provides step by step instructions and includes some safety tips.

As a rough guide, you should aim to do some of the exercises suggested below every few days, (approximately three times a week). They are grouped into resistance exercises, strength building exercises and balancing exercises.

Resistance exercises:

  • Seated leg press
  • Upper back strength

Strength exercises:

  • Step-ups
  • Leg curls
  • Leg extension
  • Wall pushups
  • Calf stretch
  • Ankle stretch
  • Shoulder stretch
  • Neck stretch
  • Tricep curl
  • Bicep curls
  • Upright row
  • Shoulder shrugs

Balance exercises:

  • Tiptoe walking – with or without support
  • Heel-toe tandem stance – with or without support
  • One legged flamingo – with or without support
  • Upward reach balance – with or without support
