Giving in memory is a special way to remember your loved one. It can also be a practical and positive way for family and friends to come together at a very difficult time.
We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences if you have lost someone close to you. Raising funds in memory of a loved one can provide a little comfort, because all the donations we receive will help other families affected by myeloma.
Donations in lieu of flowers for a funeral
Many people decide to ask friends and family for donations instead of flowers for the funeral of their loved one. If you do decide to ask family and friends to give a donation in lieu of flowers for a funeral, please let us know so we can look out for the donations and make sure they are correctly attributed.
Your family and friends can also donate directly to Myeloma UK online, leaving a recognisable name so we know they have donated in memory of your loved one.
If you’d like to take up a collection at the funeral, we can also provide you with personalised funeral donation envelopes. These contain a Gift Aid form which allows us to claim an extra 25p from the Inland Revenue for every pound donated. We can also include information leaflets about Myeloma UK, as well as coin collecting boxes.
You might also choose to commemorate the life of your loved one by making a donation on the anniversary of a birthday, wedding, or another special occasion. Donations can be made by telephone, post or online. Remember to give the name of the person you are donating in memory of, so the money can be attributed correctly.
