Limerick Myeloma Support Group was founded in 2014. We have about 30 members, with around 10 regularly coming to meetings. New members are very welcome – patients, adult family members, and friends. Except for a break in July and August, we get together once a month. We have welcome support from a group of Specialist nurses we know well, and one of them usually comes to our meetings – often they can clarify questions about treatments and suggest ways of dealing with problems. We share our experience of Myeloma, and sometimes we invite a speaker. The group discusses what topics we would like talks on during the year, and we are lucky to have local Consultants who are happy to give us presentations on new developments in treating Myeloma. Also our Dieticians, Physios, and others, such as the Patient Advocacy Service, are very open to giving talks.
We have two social events during the year, and usually a fundraiser. A Newsletter/Minutes is sent by email/post to those who cannot attend meetings.
Limerick Myeloma Support Group usually meets on the second Monday of the month, with a mix of daytime and evening meetings, along with some social events.
Please confirm dates and times of meetings with the Support Group Leader, or Cancer Support Center (details below).
