Funeral and memorial collections

If you’d like to raise money in memory of a loved one at a funeral or memorial event, we’re here to give you all the support you need.

Why fundraising in memory can mean so much

Raising money for Myeloma UK at the funeral or memorial event for a loved one can be a truly meaningful way to remember and celebrate their life.

It may also give you the opportunity to support a cause they cared about, recognise the support they received from us, and bring family and friends together at a very difficult time.

Everyone at Myeloma UK would like to extend their deepest sympathy and condolences if you have recently lost someone close to you.

We hope it brings you some comfort to know that all your support will help to improve the lives of people affected by myeloma and fund groundbreaking research into new treatments.

Donating in lieu of flowers

Many funeral notices are now posted online (see below), which allows you to tell people you’d prefer them to donate to Myeloma UK in lieu of funeral flowers.

Below is some wording you may want to use for your funeral notice or funeral service sheet. You can suggest this to your funeral director if they are arranging things for you:

  • Family flowers only please. If you would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers in memory of [Name], the family asks that you support Myeloma UK (registered charity no SC026116).
  • You can donate online at memorial.myeloma.org.uk, by phone on 0131 230 0429, or cheque, which should be made payable to Myeloma UK and sent to Myeloma UK, 22 Logie Mill, Beaverbank Business Park, Edinburgh EH7 4HG.

Create and share a funeral notice

It only takes a few minutes to create and share a funeral notice. All you need to do is add the appropriate details below and follow the simple instructions.

  • What is the first name of the person your notice is for?
  • What is the surname of the person your notice is for?

Funeral collection

You can request our memorial donation envelopes so people can donate with cash or a cheque at a funeral or memorial event.

Our memorial envelopes are white and can be personalised with your loved one’s name at the top, e.g. Celebrating the life of John Smith.

Our envelopes include a Gift Aid declaration. This means if a donor is a tax payer and they tick the Gift Aid box, we’ll receive an extra 25p from the government for every £1 they donate – and at no cost to them.

If you’re wondering how many envelopes you’ll need, we recommend half the number of people you’re expecting to attend the event. You can order envelopes online using the form at the bottom of this page.

After the funeral, you can pay in your money using our dedication form.

Other resources

We also have other resources you can use at a funeral or memorial event that can be ordered using the form at the bottom of this page:

  • Myeloma UK branded bucket labels that can be stuck to a bucket or large container for collecting cash.
  • Myeloma UK branded orange banners to create a more visible display.
  • Fast facts leaflets that give a brief explanation of what myeloma is and an introduction to Myeloma UK. These can help raise awareness of myeloma and our work.
