Myeloma Awareness Week

Myeloma Awareness Week 2026 runs from 15 – 21 June.

Myeloma Awareness Week is our annual campaign that aims to raise awareness of the blood cancer, myeloma and its symptoms.

Unlike in the US, where they celebrate Myeloma Awareness Month in March, Myeloma Awareness Week occurs in June.

This year, Myeloma Awareness Week runs from 15-21 June.

‘Know the warning signs’ campaign

We know from conversations with people in the myeloma community that they often had warning signs for a long time before they were diagnosed. We also know that lots of you visited your GP with signs or symptoms more than once before you got that diagnosis.

In life when there’s a warning sign for a wet floor or a stop sign, people take notice.

This year’s Myeloma Awareness Week campaign builds on that idea. We’ve created real-life warning signs for myeloma symptoms. Our supporters Carly, Mart, Mel and Louise, all of whom have myeloma, had warning signs painted on their bodies in the places where some of the most common symptoms appear.

If you think you might be experiencing the symptoms of myeloma, learn more about the warning signs and what to do next.

Why is it so important to know the symptoms of myeloma?

The symptoms of myeloma are vague and can be hard to explain. All too often, it’s mistaken for minor conditions or ageing, and left to progress untreated, leading to further harm. Too many people in pain, with broken bones, infection or fatigue, only find out they have myeloma in A&E.

1 in 4 myeloma patients waits over ten months to get the right diagnosis, and almost a third of patients are diagnosed through an emergency route. By raising awareness of the symptoms we aim to improve early diagnosis of myeloma.
