Myeloma UK is facilitating two Research Capacity Building Workshops that will help to make research more accessible for patients with myeloma and their family members. Workshops will take place in Glasgow on 20 October, and in London on 24 November.

Our research capacity building workshops will address questions such as:

  • How can patients help to design good research?
  • What is a clinical trial and what does good trial design look like?
  • How can patients and family members help design surveys and questionnaires?
  • What opportunities are there to be involved in research?

Our Health Services Research programme is about better understanding the needs and experiences of myeloma patients and their families. Our patient and carer research panel support all of our research and make a valuable contribution to all of our research programmes, including our Clinical Trials Network, and our Translational research programme.

We know that many patients want to understand and become involved in myeloma research. However, feedback from panel members has also helped us to recognize some of the challenges that face patients – from finding out about opportunities to participate, to making sense of the complicated language that often appears during the process.

We want to make sure that our research is fully reflective of what is important to patients. These research capacity building workshops will support patients in better understanding, engaging with, and benefitting from research into myeloma.

You can find out more about related aspects of work on our Research & Patient Advocacy page.
