York Haematology Support Group
York Haematology Support Group is a successful well attended group with approximately 30 attendees, the group is made up of patients, family members and friends all affected by haematological cancers.
The York Haematology Support Group offers the chance for people affected by blood cancer to get together in an informal setting, to chat and share their experiences. A guest speaker is invited to most meetings, with topics varying and speakers including clinical staff, researchers, students and organisations promoting health and wellbeing. The group meet at Huntington Working Men’s Club and around 20-30 people attend each session, including patients, family members and friends. It was set up by Carol Miller (Blood Cancer Patient), with help from Debra Howell (Health Researcher at the University of York), although Carol has now stepped down. Anyone affected by blood cancer is welcome to attend.
Upcoming Dates
The group usually meets 7.00pm – 9.00pm on the first Thursday of every month, although there are no meetings in January and August, and in February and March we meet during daytime hours (1.30pm-3.30pm). Please check: yhhn.org/support for further information or contact the Support Group Leader.
